¡Bienvenidos a la escuela de WAMS o a la clase del Español! For many of you, this is the first experience you will have in a World Language classroom or possibly with any World Language at all! ¡Qué magnífico (How magnificent!)!
Spanish 1A, sometimes referred to as Spanish 7A, is a class specially designed for students who were not present at WAMS or did not take a language in 6th grade. In this class, you will be following a combination 6th and 7th grade curriculum. The goal of this class is for students to achieve the same Spanish skills and knowledge as a student who took all three years at WAMS before entering Ridge High School as Freshmen.
During the year, you will be able to ask and express personal information about yourself including descriptions, personality traits and opinions. Then we will discuss family relationships and describe members of our family and activities we do together. Finally, we will be discussing heroes and what traits and actions we see in people who are considered heroes in our world and personal life. At first it will be a little scary to hear and learn in Spanish, but you will also learn tricks and tips on how to understand what is going on even if you don't know what exactly is being said. By the end of the year, you will be able to write full sentences and follow along as Spanish speakers talk!
